Hearth connects you with communities built around your interests — and inside them, smaller circles where real friendships form.

How it works
Start with a community built around something you love. Find your circle inside it. Then let depth do the rest.
Browse communities built around things you actually care about — running clubs, manga circles, film nights, art groups. Join one that fits your life right now. Then find or form a smaller circle inside it with the people who match your specific vibe.
Every week your Guardian sends a prompt. Something real — not "what's your favorite movie" but "what have you been putting off, and why?" You answer in your own time, read everyone else's, and respond. By month two you'll know more about these people than friends you've had for years.
By month three you're not strangers anymore. Someone proposes something — a weekend trip, a 30-day writing challenge, a group project. The circle votes, it happens. This is where "online group" becomes something you'll actually remember.
Photos from meetups get lost in camera rolls, buried in group chats, or accidentally deleted. Not here. Your circle's Memory Room keeps every photo, milestone prompt, and inside joke in one place — shared with the people who were actually there. Months later you scroll back together and realize: this became something real.
How it's structured
Every community on Hearth has smaller circles inside it — specific enough that everyone actually has something in common.
A city-wide running community for all paces and distances.
A community for artists of all levels and mediums.
For people who read, watch, and obsess over Japanese culture.
Find your circle
Every circle shows you what they're about, who's in it, and what they actually do together — before you apply.
Inside a circle
Each circle has a Chat room, a Gathering planner, a Prompt room for weekly depth questions, a Memory Room to look back on, and a Spots tab for nearby venues with exclusive circle deals.
Roles
Three roles keep things running without making it feel like a company. Everyone matters equally — roles just clarify who does what.
What makes Hearth different
Most apps let anyone in. Hearth doesn't. Every circle is protected by the people already inside it — and anyone who breaks that trust faces a clear, human process.
No one auto-joins. Every applicant writes a 3-sentence intention, records a 60-second voice intro, and waits for the circle to vote. It takes 5 minutes and filters out everyone who isn't serious.
Any member can flag someone. The Guardian reviews and decides. If removed, the person gets a reason — not a mystery. One appeal, handled by a real human within 24 hours.
If a member goes quiet, Hearth keeps them in the loop — not in the dark. A gentle nudge goes out every 2 weeks. If 2 months pass with zero interaction, they're automatically removed.
Already using a group chat?
WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, and KakaoTalk are fine for logistics. But they weren't built for friendship — no depth tools, no shared memory, no gathering planner, no Spots or venue deals. Hearth is.
Group chats turn "let's hang out" into 40 messages of back-and-forth. Hearth has built-in scheduling with group voting — one tap and everyone's in.
Group chats stay surface-level. Weekly prompts give your circle a shared question to answer — and real conversation actually starts.
Group chats scroll into oblivion. Hearth's Memory Room keeps your photos, moments, and milestones in one place — forever.
Group chats have no idea where you like to meet. Hearth surfaces partner venues nearby with exclusive deals — tap once to send the spot straight to your Gathering room.
No algorithm, no strangers, no noise. Just your real circle with Prompts, a Memory Room, and tools built for lasting friendship — not engagement metrics.

Pricing
Everything you need to find your people and build real friendships is completely free. Hearth+ is optional — it only exists to help cover server costs for AI features and photo storage. It's never required to use the app.
Why Hearth
The graveyard of friendship apps is real. Here's what happened — and why Hearth is different.
| App | What happened |
|---|---|
| Hey! VINA / Friended | 1:1 friend matching. Felt like dating. Awkward. Shut down. |
| Patook | Anti-flirting friend app. Tiny niche, never scaled. |
| Wink | Became a teen flirting app accidentally. |
| Bumble BFF | Afterthought to dating. Low engagement, same swipe fatigue. |
| Meetup | Events, not relationships. You go, you leave, no depth. |
| Geneva | Group chat communities. Raised money, but struggling with retention. |
| Hearth | Small circles, not cold matches. New friendships built on depth, not swiping. |
They all tried to make friendship feel like dating or networking. Hearth builds new friendships through small circles and structured depth.
